Diagnostic Testing

Functional Capacity Evaluations

This describes an examination between the patient and provider in which the provider is trying to determine the patient’s ability to continue and/or return to doing work-related activities. This exam usually reviews the patient’s medical records; but more importantly, reviews the patient’s ability to do work-related activities by examining the patient’s musculoskeletal system and physical ability with multiple tests. These tests range from testing patient’s grip strength to tolerance for long hours of standing and walking. Typically, these examinations are completed by both occupational and physical therapists.
