Types of Pain and Problems

Low Back Pain

Low back pain is one of the most common back disorders. It is also the most common cause of work related disability claims in the United States. Fortunately most symptoms of low back pain only require conservative treatment because it is usually musculoskeletal in origin and is related to muscle sprain or strain. Low back is defined as the area consisting of the five vertebrae known as L1 through L5. Additionally, the back pain can be caused by injury to a disc, osteoarthritis or degeneration of the disc. Smoking can cause spine deterioration as well as reduced blood flow to the spine, ultimately causing the discs to degenerate.
